January 18th, 2014, The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce hosted their largest annual event, the Business Celebration dinner, which was held at RiverPark Center.  In attendance were more than 400 business members, community leaders, and their guests.  One of the main events of the evening included the presentation of the 2014 Business of the Year Awards.  These awards were created to recognize local businesses who exhibit excellence in innovation, growth, customer service and community involvement.

 

Rick Thomas, President, and David Thomas, CEO of the Commercial Division, attended the event to represent Unique Granite and Marble who was honored to be a nominee. Including Unique Granite and Marble, a total of 65 individuals and 44 companies were nominated and eligible to receive this award which consists of six categories. These categories include Emerging Business of the Year, Business of the Year (1-10 employees), Business of the Year (11-50 employees), Business of the Year   (51+ employees), Non-Profit Business of the Year, and Education and Workforce Development Program of the Year. The results were announced in each category, and Unique Granite and Marble found themselves named as this year’s recipient of the Business of the Year award for the category of 11-50 employees. Expressing his appreciation towards The Chamber of Commerce, his employees, and clients Rick Thomas accepted the award.  Since the receipt of this award Rick has stated on behalf of the company, “We would like to say thank you to all our clients for your continued support, as well as a huge thanks to our fantastic employees who helped make this possible. We are very excited to receive this award and also eager to see what the future holds for us.”
